Math Test Unit 4

Dear Parents,

Despite giving extra teaching and review time to unit 4, a disheartening amount of students got a 1 on the test. I will give retakes on Monday, January 9th after school. That is the only possible date that I can give a retake and change a math grade on the math test. If your child misses that retake they will have to accept the grade.

There is good news, however. Some students did great.

• Using friendly number strategies for mental division problems
• Division
• Checking division by multiplying
• Magnitude estimations for dividing decimals (estimating the place value of a number)
• Simple algebra

• Different forms that division can be written
• Writing a number sentence
• Knowing what a remainder represents in a story problem
• How would you represent the remainder in a story problem (ignore it, report it as a fraction or a decimal, or round the number up)
• Divisibility
